Tekkit Tips and Tricks 4: Mining

4. Mining
Be prepared to start a long mining trip because the next items you would need are diamonds. Other then the regular method to get diamonds, there are other ways too. Converting gold into diamonds with Equivalent Exchange, compressing coal chunks or mining nether diamonds. All are ways to get diamonds. The EE way is not possible at this time of the game so that way is ruled out. Compressing coal chunks is a decent way to make diamonds but it is quite expensive. It can cost 64 coal, 8 flint and an extra ingredient. This ingredient can be obsidian, a brick block or a block of iron. It is the easiest to use a brick block at this point of the game. Mining nether diamonds is a dangerous job mostly because, since putting it in the nether is not a tough enough, they made it so that it is found under the lava layer. I suggest making a fire resistance potion, taking it and mining the diamonds under the lava.

These diamonds are quite useful. You have a choice of what to make with it. I have taken a few optimal choices for you. Make a philosopher's stone, make a quarry, a diamond pickaxe. A philosopher's stone would open up the world of magic and Equivalent Exchange to you. A quarry would mine out large areas automatically for you and the pick would allow you to mine quicker, get more diamonds to use. i would personally choose the stone. This would cost you 1 diamond, 4 redstone dust and 4 glowstone dust. It can be used to make a transmutation tablet, Bring grass to the caves quickly, convert water to ice, lava to obsidian and other cool stuff. The transmutation tablet would allow you to convert petty cobble into precious items such as iron or diamonds. This dabbles in EE and would be gone though in another post. I would be leaving the choice to you.
